TSA removes fishing weights from my checked in luggage

I have googled this and I honestly don't get it. I was traveling from MIA to EU recently and TSA removed lead fishing weights from my checked in luggage. They left a note in that baggage that it was searched, but nothing more.

It was about 5 pieces of small lead fishing weight, bought at Bass Pro Shops. Why the hell would they do that? Everything else came ok.

Only thing that comes to mind, they might have thought it was ammunition, because it was simillary shaped (http://fishreports.fast.netdna-cdn.c...ing-sinker.jpg). But who the hell does not know what a fishing weight is?

Also, maybe lead gives some radiation?

Any ideas?
