They staged an early morning raid because they knew they would find drugs - they were right - and they took so many officers because his house is less of a house in the conventional sense, and more of a party pad where a dozen people live.

The police most likely used the egging as an excuse to take a look and I am guessing they aren't too surprised at what they found.
