Not believing in UFOs does not equate to believing we are alone in the universe. Only, an acceptance of the great physical barriers of contact with another advanced race due to the sheer distance between habitable planets.

True but there could very possibly be life that elsewhere and over the billions of years the universe has existed so far their could be alien species who have discovered how to travel large distances by altering the physical world as we crudely understand with our rudimentary understanding of atom and sub-atomic physics.
We just don't know and as there is actually no real evidence to support the theory we must draw the logical conclusion that they have not visited and did not assist early man in any way.
