The biller couldn't care less about collecting this information. Why make your customers jump through hoops? The actual problem is with the GOVERNMENT. They have KYC and AML requirements that force billers to collect that information.
You are completely barking up the wrong tree. You should be yelling about government interference. Do you think that the biller is collecting this information just because they feel like being dicks? The people that run the biller don't want to be put in jail, so they are forced to comply. I don't understand how you can't get that this is a GOVERNMENT problem, not a biller problem.
Or do you refuse to see it because that wouldn't fit with your "more government is better" worldview?
