That's a myth. Google doesn't care about your text content at all (neither "unique" or spun). The most important factor today is user activity. Do you really thing that surfers would read your hand written texts? C'mon

They are coming to your site for some different content. They need images and videos. Only quality media content can hold them at your site for a rather long time and make them open more than a single page.
Any text blog has a very low UA factors (high bounce rate, small on site lime etc). This is why these get slapped by Panda. Do any search request in Google and you'll see only tubes and popular image sites (pinboards etc) in the SEPR's. There are no text blogs anymore because no one is interested in them and Google knows it.
