$130 is nothing if it gets you the tone you want, right?
EMG is a hit or miss, too. Some guitars and amp setups, they are great.. some.. just too hot of an output and brittle sounding. Really depends..
If you are into blues and texas rock type stuff, the current pickups in that guitar will do you just fine and dandy but if you need more hotness on your output, a simple boost pedal will be sufficient.
hint: Check out EHX Analogizer. Has up to 26db of boost and smoothens out the trailing sound for a nice and beautifully warm melodic clean/mild breakup sound
