How would they have got the money that was deposited to their account? ATM card? They'd have been photographed and a record kept of where and when withdrawals were made. If Deepsy is asking for $1500 at a time, he'd have to make multiple withdrawals to get the money - a pattern would develop soon enough.
Check? Again, try to cash a check and chances are you'll be on someone's surveillance system.
Over the counter withdrawal? Same again.
Eventually you'll piss off enough people for the police to take you seriously. Deepsy is heading in that direction.
The ONLY way you can hope to remain anonymous is if you deal only with cash. Even then, people will get suspicious if you deal with large amounts.
Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I used to work in the "intelligence gathering industry" (a hell of a lot more boring than it sounds) and everyone is traceable - you'd be amazed at what information you can get. I used to track people down by, amongst other methods, getting hold of their supposedly confidential medical records by phoning up their local doctor or hospital and just asking for them.
Security is only as strong as the bored secretary on the other end of a phoneline...
