I was a History major in college with a focus on East Asia studies, I lived in Asia for over a decade altogether, and I am generally interested in the region (and the world), so I think it's safe to say that I know some of what you are speaking about.
BTW, I've even been to South Korea, but not North Korea; I wasn't allowed to travel to North Korea, or any communist countries due to my military duties and security clearance (I spent 4 years of my Navy career on a staff command in Japan, and then a few years chasing mostly Russian submarines in patrol aircraft).
I think that I am fairly passionate when it comes to human rights, so yes I would like to see some positive change in the North Korean government. Since I am more affected by and better informed about human rights problems in this country, I focus most of my energy there. The more human rights we have in the USA, the better we can help other countries achieve improvements in their human rights.
