so far as red cross stuff goes (they call it cruz roja here) all the donated clothes and warez sent to Haiti for aid end up in "la pulga" here, the outdoor flea markets for locals in the DR. Haitians ride the bus across the border with "cubes" of clothes/shoes/etc the size of hay bales then they sell them for profit to dominicans who want real nikes, adidas, brand name stuff, albeit used... flea markets are the only place to buy real brand name shoes etc in a 3rd world country because everything new in the stores here is cheap and made out of paper mache. my point is I don't see the red cross donations/goods helping the ones who need it most, in campos, tin roof shanty shacks, etc... its the big city hip crowd getting all the aid. never reaches the places most barren and remote
