I think some of it is that there has been a sea change in how this business operates.

When I first started out there were entire sites devoted to nothing but teaching new people how to get started and make money. There were well-known people that gave classes and if you went to a board and asked a question about how to do something or you were looking for advice there was no shortage of help.

Then as it got harder to make money more and more people started keeping things to themselves and they stopped giving away the secrets. With fewer people readily willing to share information there is less to talk about on the boards and people start to fall away.
