problem with Poser (and increasingly Daz Studio) is that most people who move stuff around and call it animation don't got an official education in animation.
Maya & the like is to create masterpieces and Poser/Daz is for mass production... simple as that.

There's just something about Poser that makes the models look very generic, but I haven't used it in a few years so it might be better now. I like it for things that would replace sprites like in an architectural render or something, but not something that showcases the model.
