That can be a huge issue. However, I think the jails out here on the west coast are basically run by Hispanics. It's just a matter of numbers - we have a high percent of Hispanics here. (Don't you watch Sons Of Anarchy?)
My wife is a confirmed Democrat, and when I saw Obama say this on TV I commented and she's like "What did you just say". Sorry, I am not a full time Obama fan.
We already have a route for people to become US citizens, and breaking the law and coming here illegally is not one of them. If you try to give these law breakers citizenship, two things happen:
1) You get citizens that have already broken a lot of laws in the US and will continue to do so
2) You encourage others to come here illegally.
We cannot do this.
