It should go without saying - everyone defines their own standards of comfort.
I never denigrate someone whose standards differ from mine. What's the point?
Just recently my boss passed away from cancer - he was 72. He worked right up until his final days. Many people constantly said, "Why the hell is he still working at his age? He should retire, take life easy...enjoy the time with his wife and grandkids."
Having worked with the guy for almost a decade - I knew the answer.
He needed to feel vital. It energized him...gave him purpose. He wasn't the type of person who was satisfied to wither away in a rocking chair on the porch. He thrived on getting up early and working a full eight hour day.
It kept him going.
Some people are just wired that way. I respected and admired that a great deal.
