In the UK they drive on the left side of the road because back in medieval times, when you were riding your horse on the trail, you'd always want to have your strong side(right for most people) ready to draw your sword and fight if there was trouble coming from the other direction.
You both would have to fight across your body and horse if it was vice-versa. And you would be fucked if you're a lefty, unless you learn to fight from your weak side. I heard that on some podcast, I think.
