I was finally able to get the site work tonight. After filling out all of the info and making an estimate of my income after deductions I was referred to my states medicare program. There are several problems with this. One is I don't qualify for regular medicare and second even if I did the category I might qualify for being a small business plan has been closed for enrollment since pretty much it's inception. Since I apparently can't even change my income on the site (which would mean putting myself into a higher tax bracket and in turn higher taxes) I'm pretty much stuck with either paying the fines and going without insurance, or seeking it privately (which is costly), or setting up a business (which costs me money to do) just so I can go through SHOP.
