Not only is he alive but he is has been a presidential adviser since the Nixon years. In fact, he has an apartment in a bunker under area 51 in Nevada where he has been cloned. His clones are currently being trained for the first of what are many planned manned mission to Mars.
The master plan is to keep sending clones of Elvis to Mars to build a colony there (once they perfect the atmosphere) and continue the human species.
