One thing that will change, in theory, is that it looks like I will be able to buy better insurance than what I have now for about the same money. The calculator reflects the silver plan which is the bottom plan available if you're over 30 yrs old.
The bronze plan is only available in certain states and only to people under 30 and it's a catastrophic only plan.
I work at a small motorcycle shop. My wife works at a huge billion dollar medical device company as a temp. Neither of us make much money at our jobs. But that's the market where we live.
Our insurance is $355 according to that same calculator.
It's a $355 bill we can't afford.
That's all there is to it in my house.
I don't know what the answer is but I don't want it and can't afford it at this point. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
