In reality a 7.62 can easily do that. I used to shoot an Ak-47 out in the Socal desert at car wrecks left out there for plinking. That round goes through an engine block like butter. Every time you see guys hiding behind oil barrels, car doors, etc in the movies it is complete bullshit that those would offer any protection whatsoever.

If anything, it was unrealistic because it would have knocked down that cinder block wall.
