Many enter the military just to receive free lifetime medical care and have their way paid through college when they are discharged after four years of service...while at the same time being paid for a four year adventure...seeing the world...being presented with the opportunity to operate multi million dollar equipment...etc...etc...etc. Only about 10% serve in Combat Arms...the others are in various support roles for those serving in Combat Arms.
