Given that we are responding to the news of a mass shooting, yes it does. However, if you want to make it all shootings lets look at a simple fact. Less guns among the general public= less gun violence. Look at your country, lots of gun access, lots of gun violence. Look at my country, very little gun access, very little gun violence. If you take away the guns, the problem of gun violence IS solved. No guns, no gun violence. There will always be other forms of crime, but how can less gun crime be a negative thing?

While you are correct, you're point is irrelevant however. The cat's already out of the bag. It's easy to say if there weren't any guns there wouldn't be any gun violence - but there are already guns. Not only is your point irrelevant but doesn't help or solve the problem at all.
Could you imagine someone having the same argument in any other situation? Some kid somewhere is stung by a bee, and he's deathly allergic to them, and sure enough dies. A bunch of people are discussing it and wishing their was something they could do about it. Someone stands up and says "If only there weren't any allergies", someone else stands up and says "YEAH! And also if there weren't any bees". Like these two people truly believe their adding to the discussion by envisioning some magic fairy land of rainbows where there aren't any allergies or bees.
