Anyone willing to help a worthless Yank along with a crash course?
Premier League is the English domestic season, the top league, they play each team in their division twice, at the end, the team with most points is the Champion that year. There is also 3 teams who finish in the bottom 3 who will be relegated to the lower division, likewise the top 3 teams in that lower division get promoted to be with the big boys. The top 4 teams in the Premiership qualify for the Champions League in some form whether it be directly into the Group stage we're at now, or the pre qualifyers.

Champions league runs throughout the regular domestic season but it is the best few teams from each country only, there is 32 teams in the Group stage we're at now, 4 teams in each group, they play each other twice, the top 2 teams go into a knockout phase to play for the ultimate Champion of Europe, the third placed team drops down into a secondary tournament called Europea league which is lesser teams but still good in their own right and the 4th placed team drops out of all competitions, apart from their domestic league. It stretches out over the course of a season and is normally the last fixture of all the European domestic seasons, the team that eventually wins is classed the best team in Europe for that year.

I could go on and on but that should give you a rough idea hopefully.
