No need to go back to agent orange. In the first gulf war we knew Iraq had gassed the Kurdish rebels but we signed a peace treaty with them. It was only under Bush lite that it became a reason to attack them some more.
I'm still of the opinion that allowing blatant attacks using these kinds of weapons can't be let go. I'd wager that none of those opposing a US strike are actually opposed to doing something, (except the trade partners of Syria). The rest want sanctions of some sort no doubt.
