To ber fair its not just nats but any of these none auto pay out systems. So unlike say ccbill that auto pays out these sites do not.

I'm using NATS right now doing customization.
The reason a sponsor uses NATS is pretty simple : Creating a custom back end from scratch is expensive and risky.
If you use NATS then it's easier to find a programmer or designer with experience to
customize your website functions compared to having a full custom script and the original
programmer is no longer available.
As far as shaving goes : There is no software in the world that can stop a sponsor that is hell bent on being a crook (Sorry, our server went down and we lost all payment data and all backups were destroyed in a fire
