When he was campaigning and then right after taking office he promised to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, close Guantanamo Bay and usher in a new era where we played diplomat not world police. He then went on a tour where he gave some great speeches in Europe and Egypt bout US relations with Muslim countries. It gave the appearance that he was going to be something different. A breath of fresh air. They gave him the prize based on what he said he was going to do not what he had actually done.
Of course, here we are five years later and we are still in Afghanistan and Gitmo is working just fine and now we find out the NSA is basically spying on everyone. It didn't quite turn out as planned.
