Robbie, I know a lot of people, especially young people don't bother paying for health insurance because they are broke or just completely irresponsible. But it's really not that expensive for a single person with no dependents. I pay $184/month here for mine. I mean it hardly matters when you just have the flu or go to the doctor for strep throat or something or a minor injury.

But imagine you break a bone or suffer numerous injuries in an accident or get a serious treatable illness that needs a hospital stay or develop a survivable but chronic medical issues that you have to get semi-regular doctor visits and medicine for. That could bankrupt you. Medical insurance is relatively cheap insurance against losing everything and going into long term debt if one of those conditions happens.
