Kinda makes sense that a "how to remodel your bathroom" video will over time out perform the latest viral craze. In fact I could even see the "how to videos" being watched over and over with a lot of pausing and replaying to "learn" exactly what they're showing.

I'm pretty sure it's the latter
A friend of mine makes "how to" videos now and earns about $5k or so a month from it. They are all random and based on search queries and # of videos on YouTube.
