Cutting off early voting days doesn't prevent working people from voting? Changing rules right before an election doesn't prevent people from voting? Cutting the number of voting machines doesn't prevent people from voting? Telling a student that if they vote where they go to school their parents will lose their tax exemptions doesn't prevent people from voting?
Republicans are even admitting that they are trying to prevent Democrats from voting. I heard a quote by someone (I'll try to find it) that said they weren't trying to keep blacks from voting, they were trying to keep Democrats from voting... And the state of Texas, in response to it's changing voting rules being challenged by the DOJ:
Quote:
DOJ's accusations of racial discrimination are baseless. In 2011, both houses of the Texas Legislature were controlled by large Republican majorities, and their redistricting decisions were designed to increase the Republican Party's electoral prospects at the expense of the Democrats. . . . The redistricting decisions of which DOJ complains were motivated by partisan rather than racial considerations, and the plaintiffs and DOJ have zero evidence to prove the contrary.
