I guess it's a known sinkhole and seeing that they have some sort of wooden dock/platform there I guess maybe they fish or observe it regularly? No idea. I think it's the Assumption sinkhole but I didn't save the article page.
They had a HUGE sinkhole in the 80's where salt mining broke through the bottom of a lake or something and that thing sucked down entire barges and full grown trees and the barges popped up like toys sometime later.
