I can understand this being an issue if the place is really expensive and a lot of the price is reflected upon that though, but in general no I don't care about that stuff.

I see if from a completely different point of view. I'm a fairly decent cook and my wife is an AMAZING cook. (For example, If I feel like a lobster thermador and beef wellington, my wife can whip up fantastic renditions of both on pretty short notice.... and the list of dishes is pretty endless.)
I can get food as good, or often better, at home then I can at a restaurant. The reason why we go to them once in a while is for the service and overall experience.
