I would not use it as a backup. I save everything to dvd discs (x 3 - i make 3 copies of everything just in case).
For me its just that it means that I can put common files i use from my pc onto it. I could save it to my phone but it would soon fill up, plus its easer to sort things out on my pc and put things in the right folder.
It now means that I do not need a laptop with me. Most places have wifi so it makes life easy.
It also means that if there is a group of you, its easy to share files, and your not havig to email each other the same file.
I am simply using it as a sort of portable drive. And the great thing is I do not need to worry about loosing it or droping it.
I wish it was around when I was at uni as then i would not have had to carry all my files around with me and get stresed when the pc i was using refused to conect to the storage unit i was using.
