When he was editor of the Daily Mirror, he authorized the paper to run - on the front page - pictures which were suppose to be of British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners. It was around the same time as the Abu Ghraib situation. So he knew it would get a lot of attention. Problem for him is that they were faked photographs. He claims to have been hoaxed but even so he apparently didn't even run the photos by anybody that could have looked at them for accuracy.

This is all separate from the insider trading he was involved with in 2000 with the Mirror and their financial column.
He's a real prize as a journalist.
