Well, I've saved someone's life, I graduated college (although I dropped out of high school), I would like to think I am a great parent, and I am heavily involved in a charity that I can't even mention here.

When someone posts a video and I reply "I remember one time when I was in the Marines" that's not me bragging about in the Marines, it's telling a story from when I was younger. It's exactly the same as when I say "When I worked at the phone company" or when I say "when I worked in fast food".
