Being a Marine is something I am proud of. What else can I be proud of? Getting married? Buying a house? Having a kid? Going to college? Getting a job? Everyone does these things.
I never considered myself a hero, never claimed I was, I was a barracks Marine who never saw combat - I am in fact the firefighter who never left the fire station to fight a fire, and I am perfectly okay with that.

You do not need to explain or apologize...especially to the likes of TheSquealer. I did serve in combat multiple times but I am not particularly proud of that. I am proud that I made the cut to be a paratrooper and serve with the 82nd Airborne Division. There are many that cannot make that cut.
