Rochard has never claimed to be a hero that I am aware of and has stated that all of his service was during peacetime and that he served as an instructor at AIT (Advanced Infantry Training).
He is a man that is proud of his accomplishment of becoming a U.S. Marine...and his service to his country. As am I for being an Airborne Soldier and having served my country for 12 years.
