I had never heard of the guy before coming here, so have no idea what kind of a twit he was on the boards as you mention. But, it's not like he comes here still (that I know of) and makes a nuisance of himself, unlike others who get banned, get a new nick, and come back to do it all over again.

Unless he wronged you personally, I say be the bigger man and take it down and let the poor shmuck move on with his life. It obviously causes him more distress than any value it might offer to you.
