The only real difference would be that the trial wouldn't be a media circus, pretending as if it were some racism fueled hate crime. And in case you didn't know this, but they can't just put you in jail without a trial or plea bargain... so that means Martin would have gotten the same trial as Zimmerman is in now, likely under a lesser charge and definitely without all the silly media attention.
