It's funny really, because a year ago he told me there was "no reason for him to get that piece of paper". Since then he has learned exactly what that silly piece of paper means.

exactly, this is the issue the homos are facing... the inability to have common civil rights such as inheritance, custody, health coverage from a spouse etc... and all 'couples' should have those rights however there was no need to use the word 'marriage'
