In many cases they are promised non sexual jobs in another country (waitress, hotel, massage, maid). As soon as they are on the ground, their passports are taken from them and they are either put to work right away, or they are beaten and forced to take drugs to become addicts, then put out out work.
Believe it or not, human trafficking of women is even huge in 1st world nations like the USA and Japan. Blind eyes are turned everywhere.
