Is there a number of how many republicans and how many democrats are on welfare? That would be better number because simply looking at whole states does not paint correct picture. For the reasons L-pink and others mentioned.
For example:
Government starts some facility in certain state, that means more funding, but does that mean that suddenly people from that state became freeloaders even more? No, but according to OP's inaccurate method that would be yes.
