i don't disagree with his message, i think it's very similar to what ferris summed up, as silly as that may sound. it's just the exact opposite motivator on the same thing. maybe i like the tongue-in-cheek form of therapy.....
and i see your point about rapid onset of depression.
maye his depression angle is what rings true about his speech. the guy is an award winning author, so he is relatable. and i've had varying degrees of depression at one time or another and i would imagine we all experience some amount of it at some point(s) in our lives, if not continually.
