If english is not your first language you should at least be fluent in it if you intend to design websites for clients that speak english. Good prices and fast turnarounds only go so far when your clients have to correct the text themselves. Then again I don't really care because I'm tired of competing with foreign designers that are willing to work for next to nothing and copy good designer's work since they have no talent themselves.
