At my college every black football player on scholarship joined the army after they got to college.
We all joined ROTC.
It was an easy decision involving soap, deodorant, tooth paste, haircut, detergent mostly.
Other stuff is on the list but those few sealed the deal.
$100 a month would buy everything on the list.
That's what ROTC paid to complete the 4 year program with a six year commitment to
serve in the army after college(part active, part reserve = six yrs).
10 years all together.
I'm damn glad for everything I got!!
It's just a eye opening for me to think about taking a pair of tennis shoes out of the trash
when another player threw them away and then reading this :

It's just an eye opening is all I'm saying.
And no purpose here, just saying.
I always thought about how clean my teeth were and how good I smelled when I fired my
machine gun.
PS: After I finished in the top in ROTC summer camp I was offered a full ROTC scholarship and
they told me I should quit football.

Hey, ROTC offered full scholarships and was paying a monthly stipend and no restriction on accepting side jobs or cash and prizes.
And I thought they(ROTC) were crazy for telling me to quit football.
