Oh and just so I contribute to this thread...
COBALT and RPG (wasted my high school years on both of those languages) programmers are getting mid 100's from old banks who are too stubborn to upgrade and want to maintain or are in the process of upgrading to newer systems.
So while you can make $150k+ a year, good luck finding a job.
Similarly....Ruby on Rails had it's happy little time in the spotlight about 8 years ago when the whole Web 2.0 resurgence happened. But it had some spectacular failures too, just look at Twitter. The "fail whale" mind as well have been the "Rails Fail Whale".
So while yes, there are Ruby on Rails jobs out there...it's still pretty much specialized. It's not even most people's 1st 2nd or 3rd choice when looking for a language to build an app with. So don't expect to get flooded with offers.
Note: I like Rails. It's fun to program in. Not knocking it. It did a lot of things for object oriented programming. Django and Cake borrowed a lot from it. I respect Rails and it's community.
