Errrr .....no. The isn't the 80's or early 90's. Family bought a brand new 4 door pick up truck and doesn't want to lose face, girl looking for a husband or yabaa party life style more appealing than real work those are the kind of reasons they do what they do. In fact there is no unemployment in Thailand and even if you pay what is well above minimum wages you have trouble finding Thai nationals to do certain jobs.
