My cousin just moved home after college. Her parents spent about $20k turning their basement into an apartment for her to live in. She has separate entrance and her own little kitchen area, bathroom, living room and bedroom. It's probably about 1500 square ft of total living space and she lives rent free.
She's also a Pharmacist and makes $60k right out of school.
