yeah, cable is very picky with MAC addresses, especially the res. type modems. the cisco ubr900 isn't that way... but again it's a router (i beleive now they use xyzel or some crazy thing). if a machine is changed and the mac address isn't correct, modems generally wig out. at least the toshiba ones do.

yeah, make sure you've got a good link, maybe try another cable.
