Make sure your parking spot is close to your unit.
Check the grounds and make sure its well taken care. If they don't take care of the outside, the inside is usually not taken care of either.
Ask other tenants how the place is run.
More important than anything find out who will be living above you, below you, and next to you on both sides. The worst thing in the world is to get neighbors with kids that scream and roughouse, couples that fight all the time, punks that play music loud day and night and always have people over partying, or if you're the noisy type, ask to be put in a unit near other young people so you don't get complaints about you.
Its a lot of fun when you get your first place.
Oh yeh, make sure they have good cable TV hookups.
