That goes back to strained relations between the US and Russia. It's unamerican to say anything good about Russia, so they get left out of the high school history books and Hollywood movies. American kids grow up thinking the US played the key role in taking down Germany. Nobody even questions whether or not it's true because we were brainwashed so well.
