Depending on which source you listen to, anywhere from 50 to 550 of them were machine gunned by US forces after surrendering.
The camp guards, of course, only got what they deserved.
Complicating matters a bit however was the fact that a large number of SS combat troops were captured in the general vicinity and many of them ended up sharing the same fate as the camp guards.
To the US army, one SS uniform looked just like another SS uniform.
