I never had a ton of traffic. I went from 6k/day to 3.5k/day over superbowl weekend. With such "low" numbers, I figured it could easily have been caused by superbowl, especially since the majority of the users to my site are from USA.. Does that sorta make sense? or am I hoping for the best here..
Traffic has actually picked up a bit this afternoon, slowly creeping back to almost previous levels.. Quite bizarre, I really am confused over here. It must have something to do with google though because that is where most of my hits come from.

How about maybe searching those terms yourself and see where you come up in the SERPs? (Be sure your personalized results aren't showing..) and if you've done this before, note if the spot has risen or dropped, also noting the sites that do come up higher than yours and research those as well. Note the visitors flow of previous days if you use G Analytics, too.
Since PR just changed and the Superbowl happened yesterday, I would just do work as usual and go into research mode in a few days in case it's just a one time thing.
